Like a vacation 365 days a year!
Rutherfordton (Whew, that's a mouth full) is located in Southwestern North Carolina.
We have a natural phenomenon called the Isothermal.
Protected by the Blueridge Mountains, the climate stays moderate throughout the year. It is perfectly normal for Charlotte, located just 70 miles east, to be 10-15 degrees hotter in the summer and colder in the winter.
Asheville (50 miles north) gets 6" of snow, and we get.....nada!
It's not that I don't like snow....I HATE it with a passion!
Remember, I came from Chicago and New York.
I had enough snow to last 2 lifetimes.
If you like snow, however, just drive a short 80 miles to Boone, NC for some great (so I've been told) ski resorts.
Climbers love us too. The area is rated as having the best grade 5 's in the country.
And don't even ask about golf courses.
Too many to talk about....come on, every golfer dreams about the Carolina'

The area is truly "a hidden gem"
Great events year round.
